Soho

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Known for sweeping, exuberant performances, the Malek Jandali Trio is one of the great young chamber ensembles featuring composer and pianist Malek Jandali, Abdulrahim Alsiadi on oud and Laura Metcalf on cello. The Trio has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Nidaors Cathedral, The National Theater in Madrid and Madinat Theatre in Dubai. From the Silk Road to Manhattan's Little Syria to the cobblestone streets and cast iron buildings of SoHo, this album is a continuation of my musical journey of self-expression. I am grateful to my ancestors for leaving such a legacy of rich melodies, complex rhythms and touching poetry that inspired me to present the art of Taqasim through these original trio works. Combining the Eastern sounds of oud with the Western harmonies of piano and cello, created music that resonated with my deepest consciousness. It is my hope that my compositions remind us all of the beauty in all cultures and the musical ties that bind us together in humanity.
