Toothsome Favorites

by Malena Handeen

Toothsome Favorites sounds like a good talkin to from your mammy. Cleverly crafted phrasing dances through ballads set in big towns, small towns, and no town at all. Defined by versatile vocals over sparsely decorated beats and droning accordion.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Malena Handeen's writing is informed by a lifestyle of farming and art-making that has yielded a multitude of fruits, not least Toothsome Favorites. This record is part autobiography and part Midwestern isolation and pride. Toothsome Favorites was recorded at the Loose Tooth Cowgirl Saloon of Art on Easy Bean Farm and at the Mojo Crib on Anhydrous Alley in Montevideo, Minnesota. Malena sings and plays accordion with her father Richard and brother Daniel in the Field of Medicine and with her mother in the a cappella group Homemade Jam.
