Album Notes
Manitou Winds was founded in 2014 and has become a versatile chamber ensemble of passionate musicians. Seldom performing solely as a wind quintet, they enjoy breaking off into many different configurations aided by the multi-instrumentalists within the ensemble.

Chamber music is often described as a conversation between musicians. Performing without a conductor, each instrument contributes its own unique twist and perspective to the central theme while the musicians work together in shifting roles to keep the piece aloft and in motion.

Often exploring uncharted genres and shedding spotlight on new or obscure composers, the musicians of Manitou Winds also invent repertoire through their arrangements and compositions. Listeners are always assured of hearing unique music not to be found elsewhere.

First Flight, their debut album, is a 16-track collection of all-original music composed by ensemble members Laura Hood and Jason McKinney. The eclectic set list captures the heart of their live performances, showcasing a mix of Classical, Celtic, and Folk music performed on a colorful array of instruments.
