Album Notes
"Sounds WAY excellent..." - Kramer

Man-Made Objects was formed in Brooklyn during the summer of 2009 by Grant Provence.

Inspired as much by his rural upbringing in Oklahoma as the progressive sounds of experimentalists like the Silver Apples and Sonic Boom (of Spectrum & Spaceman 3), Provence is most comfortable when oscillating between the pastoral & the progressive. Simple song-structures and accessible melody belie the sonic textures Provence builds with heavily layered guitars awash in reverb, trance-like rhythms & drones reminiscent of bands like Mercury Rev, Spaceman 3, and My Bloody Valentine. To create a feeling or mood within the song is paramount to Provence -- internal and sometimes heady, but with a disdain for pretense and insincerity. Intimate, yet ambitious and sometimes epic.

After recording some demos while holed-up in his Brooklyn apartment, Provence set out to record his first EP with Trent Bell of Bell Labs (Flaming Lips, Chainsaw Kittens) with mastering done by legendary NYC producer, Kramer (Galaxie 500, Low, Bongwater).

Provence feels “all songs are visual" -- each finished song immediately recalling images. His film background never far behind, he hopes to incorporate this visual component into his live sets, not just as background decoration but as an integral part of the songs themselves -- sound & vision elevating the other to create a more emotional & moving experience.

Man-Made Objects is ready to record a follow-up to its debut EP, and is looking for a recording & distribution deal.
