ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Saxophone, piano, cello and double bass form the warm and intimate sound of Marama Trio. Tango, Balkan rhythms and Scottish tradition were fused with atmospheric jazz and contemporary classical to form the band’s unique and eclectic style. Extended instrumental techniques expand the range of sounds, expressing the musicians’ love of adventure and subtle nuances of tone. Susanne Olbrich (piano) founded Marama Trio with German musicians Anja Herold (saxophones) and Jens Piezunka (cello, double bass). 'Continuations' is their debut album which has enchanted jazz, classical and folk audiences alike. Susanne composed most of the band’s original material, with Anja and Jens contributing soaring improvisations to the soothing soundscapes. The album was described as "subtle, imaginative music of great energy and depth". Two of the pieces won UK awards. https://susanneolbrich.net/live-performance/
