Album Notes
There are many interpretations of this song according to Wikipedia. I first heard the story was about two brother fighting far from home. One wasn't going to make it home alive. So he tells his brother, "you take the high road and I'll take the low road" with the road being the path through life or the quicker path through the spirit of death.

Whatever the origin, it's probably one of the best-loved traditional Scottish songs in America.

Marc Gunn plays Celtic music for geeks. You'll enjoy traditional Irish and Scottish songs to sci fi drinking songs. But one of his most-popular albums is Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion. It features many of the most-famous Scottish songs, minus this one. At the time, Gunn couldn't get a good recording of his version. He finally did in 2013 and quickly released it 5 years later...
