Benefits of Yoga Nidra are many. It reduces stress, improves sleep, boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure, brings balance and harmony to the hemispheres of the brain and nervous system, promotes higher consciousness and inner peace, and helps us drop our unwanted behaviors and habits.

Marcia Camino, B.A., M.F.A., E.-R.Y.T., R.C.Y.P., is a certified and Yoga Alliance-registered instructor who teaches adult and children’s yoga in the Cleveland area. She has studied under masters Yogi Desai, Rodney Yee, and Shakta Kaur Khalsa and is Cleveland’s only Amrit-certified instructor, having completed her yoga teacher training through the Amrit Yoga Institute in September 2004.

Since 2003, Marcia has had a daily yoga practice and since becoming certified has taught over 1,000 hours. Marcia has practiced and studied many styles of yoga and is particularly fond of Amrit, Ashtanga, Bikram, Iyengar, Kundalini, Hot and Warm, Nidra, Sivananda, Satyananda, and Yin Yoga systems.

Marcia holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Bowling Green State University and an M.F.A. in creative writing (poetics) from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. While in college, she studied ballet and acting. Her love for the arts, particularly dance and spoken word, continually informs Marcia’s yoga classes . She offers students an intelligent, inspired, eclectic, and poetic yoga journey inspired by her love for many styles of yoga as well as art.

Marcia, you did it again!
With clear, mindful instructions, this sweet and fun yogini brings the practice of Yoga Nidra within everyone's reach. The various tracks are timed to fit the busiest of schedules. This is a wonderful healing tool, when feeling drained after a long day, struggling with a more serious condition, or as part of regular yoga practice. Her beautifully soothing voice makes this CD unique, and will make you want to reach for it time and again and share it with your friends and students. Marcia's Yoga Nidra is the equivalent of a warm, healing bath for the soul, mind and body.

Never tried Yoga Nidra, or find it difficult to make time to meditate? Then you have to get this CD!

During a Yoga Nidra session, I find I can alter my level of consciousness—I get to be somewhere else, while still remaining aware. Perhaps many people find it difficult to meditate, even for a few minutes, but in my yoga practice, I was finding it nearly impossible. Yoga Nidra has allowed me to know that I CAN meditate. And when I participate in a session with Marcia, whether in person or through the CD, I get immediate benefits. The session really helps me to let go and quiet my mind—even time goes away—and I get up feeling relaxed and refreshed. Thinking about an intention (which to me is kind of like a goal, but less demanding) before I begin, allows my practice to have a purpose. Sometimes, though, that purpose is to just relax and see what happens, because all I have to do is listen.

This CD offers four complete Yoga Nidra sessions, and gives the listener a choice of session length—from about 6 minutes to just over 30 minutes. Most importantly, Marcia’s introduction clarifies what Yoga Nidra can be, and what it can do. Yoga Nidra has become for me, not just a treat (which it totally is!) but a real lesson in the possibilities of meditation.

This CD is a keeper! I love the sound of Marcia's voice, which immediately puts me into a place of ease and peace. It is perfect for someone new to this experience and also for the seasoned practitioner. The 5 tracks of different length make it user-friendly for daily use depending on your time availability.

A true gift
Marcia has a true gift for sharing the peace and relaxation of yoga. Her voice, which I find very soothing, is featured on each of the four relaxation tracks on the CD, which range from a few minutes (when you need to relax, but have little time to spare) to nearly half an hour in duration (I am still trying to make it all the way through this one without falling very, very peacefully asleep!).
