ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
It was only recently that I realized this project was going to be possible, only because my focus on other projects has taken away from its attention. But as soon as I saw a cracked door, I took the opportunity and outlined the project. This CD is filled with poems that have been written through my career as an artist, cut from albums in which they were a poem or two away from making the cut.

As with all my albums, this CD has been in the back of my head for years. Just after producing my 3rd CD, I realized there were going to be plenty of poems during my career, in which I intended to be released, that would later be scratched from the final draft of my album. Poems I have performed at some point in time, poems I have shared its ideas with to others, for some reason or another, no matter how much I liked them at that moment, it just didn’t make the final cut. Why? This can be attributed to 2 things. First, my writing nature, I am a compulsive writer.

My albums, are usually filled with poems that I have written throughout that year prior to its release, sometimes I have written out the whole album 6 months or almost a year before I begin to record, therefore leaving much time for poems to be edited, exchanged, cancelled and replaced. And while there are poems that I felt were untouchable, later as I continue to write, they somehow became cancelled out, and this leads to my Second reason.

I have a whole other vault filled with poems that I have written through the years, and when I write, after completing a poem, I either put it in that vault, or put it into the section that goes for my next CD. The section for my next CD, tends to find itself flooded with an overflow of material, which is what I prefer. Even though the process of canceling poems off an album is conflicting, it’s a whole lot better than trying to find or write poems just to fill out your album. Regardless, while there were poems that found themselves being the last cut on the roster, for the most part, my reasons for cutting it off is always because I felt like it wasn’t good enough, but a lot of times my decisions have fallen on the outline of the particular album, or if something felt repetitive. I’ve often thought the ones that just missed the last cut. Like I said, it was only until recently that I realized I would be able to complete this project.

And while eventually I’m sure in death much of my work that I have not released will be made public, as it should, somehow these poems have found their way into my life again. Most of the poems were complete, not needing much to be mixed down or mastered, there were only a few poems that I had to touch up to make sure it was right for the final production.
