Album Notes
About Marcos Hernandez:

In 2005 Ultrax Records launched the career of Marcos Hernandez with "If You Were Mine"; eventually leading to Marcos signing with TVT Records and a Top 20 Billboard chart position for the single. Sales for the album C About Me scanned 50,000 units in the USA, 10,000 units in Europe and a Gold Record (25,000 units) in South Africa.

From Marcos:

"There are very few artists that can demonstrate versatility in the musical range and the polyphonic vocal abilities I have been blessed and cursed with. However, as a 25 year old, I have had the hard earned talent and monotonous training to do both, and it happens to come naturally, due to my parents and their genes (blame it on them).

I don't mind switching between music genres to cater to the mood of his audience whether it’s the Jazzy sounds of R & B, Ferocity of Rock, Passion a latin, Energy Of industrial, Vibey relatable melodic intoxic slow jamz. Marcos’ debut CD, C About Me has something for everyone.( as well as the new album soon 2 b released this spring 07)

I’ve been singing since I came out of my mother, and i blame the old soul that I was born with on My Grandfather ( I think I must have been a cat in another life, I like sitting in the sun). See. . . . I grew up on Motown and other rock/pop feel-good music. We’d [Marcos and his three siblings— Monique, Leticia and John] perform for our grandparents, aunts, uncle's, and cuzins and every time we’d go to family gatherings, people would just expect us to b impressive ( not always kool ), but b/c they knew our drug was music, we'd share this vice with everyone. we were like the Mexican Sound of Music.

Performing for friends and family eventually turn into a lifelong passion. Born in Phoenix and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area ( i got out of he ghetto ), I made a conscious decision to start heading into the appropriate direction in my adolescent years. At a time when most kids are thinking about playing with video games ( which i still did and still do rock at, there's not a game I can't master!!), I wasted no time by jumping into a field i knew i could excell at.@ About 12, my mom and dad gave would have liked me to persure my brothers footsteps in sports, I.E. foootball. B/C I was faster and stronger than my bro was, but as I knew I could grow, 2 fold into something i felt i understood more about, I chose the lesser of my Father's lust's. Football was not that big of a thing for me then. . . it seemed a bit too brainless for me. . . . not saying it's pointless. . . I do enjoy watching the cowboys now, but I had no immediate rush, then, to jump into something that just wasn't characteristic of what I wanted to do for the rest of my life

I joined my junior high school choir and began formal vocal training. I took vocal lessons from 12 to 18. . . .uggggg. . . and I went every week for the term of the school year. I trained with a vocal coach and voice teacher. One taught me how to sing and the other taught me what to sing. (strange) both went hand and hand. At one point in High school I was in 3 choirs and missing classes to sing for retirement homes during the holiday seasons w/ a show choir. . . that was steessfull on ur nerves. . . "u live a great life and then they stick u in sterylized hell to die". . .l remember this friend of mine crying on my shoulder one night after we were done with a show, she's never viewed aging the same. . . .sad, but understand, it's those moments u can give back to those, who r at that stage of finality in life, that bring about the importance of CARING for ur loved ones, so they can depart this world w/ a sence of worth and unquestionalble love from the family they created. . . .think about that

I developed my own personal style by listening to a variety of artists and music genres over those years the entire time. My Culture gave me my manners and my Latin upbringing exposed me to the unwaivering sounds of Mariachi and cumbia music, but know I also was bred on the pop culture musical sounds of artists like Lionel Richie , Stevie Wonder, Ah-ha, Depeche mode, The Bee-Gee's, Earth, Wind, And Fire, Ohio Players, Madonna, the Gap Bad, Rodger and Zapp, Run DMC, The Temptations, The Platters, Aretha Frankin, The Jackson Five, Parlement, the Gap Band, Hall & Oats, Gunz & Roses, Aerosmith, the Cranberries, Stone Teple Pilots, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Indians, Dee Light, Bush, Tricky, Siagon Kick, Chaka Kahn, Barry Manalow, Ronny Milsap, Elton John, Richard Marx, and Sarah McGlaughklin (spelling?) Their songs had strong melodies and they sang them effortlessly and they knew how to perform and deliver a song. Not to mention, I had a crazy abitlity to memorize TV show themes, Game soundtracks. . . and any melody I could recreate by rhote on a casio keyboard i was given as a 9 year old. . . . til now ( but i can read music now, thank God!!)

Inspired by entertainers from “back-in-the-day” I was told by an awesome choir teachers, Jedda Jones and Cherry Townsand. make sure u know, " ur a musician b4 u r a performer, and the world will undersatnd any thing u sing on stage". Every chance I could, I would performed in front of an audience whether it was at a school concert, talent contest, karaoke bar or local jam session or my fam (always the hardest crowd). These opportunities prepared me to enter a local radio station contest judged by 106.1 KISS FM's Kid Kraddick who was putting together a boy band, which became the Dallas-based group, Sons of Harmony. They were having a crazy contest at a mall for a boy band, I was really nervous and one of the last people to sing. I got picked and we stayed together for two years.

Sons of Harmony toured as the opening act for artists including 98 Degrees, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, Pink, Jon Bon Jovi, as well as opening on a multi-city tour with the Grammy Award winning group, Destiny's Child.

After the youngest in the goup wanted to do his own thing out in LA. I went to collage for my fire Technician/Protection Degree. . . I.E. Fireman. . .needless 2 say. . . I grew up fast seeing with what i saw in hospitals and ambulances. . . . .but then I was approached by two parts of the prievious management team I had with The Sons Of Harmony and my parents sought out the experience of seasoned manager, Tommy Quon (Vanilla Ice), which eventually led me to signing with independent powerhouse Ultrax record, which then led me to signing with TVT Records for professional marketing and promotional help. . . . . . . I won't go into what I've learned by signing w/ some one ur gut tell u to b hesitant about. . . . just b sure it's a team u can trust to help market u in the way u want to b. . . . still I am very grateful for the opportunity they gave me to expand upon a dream I believed in

It’s evident that some of my biggest heros today are in the current Latino music movement. I still do admire Pitbull’s aggressiveness, Alyisha Keys stage performances. Baby Bash's ability to have fun on stage, Zack Hexum's musicality, Andy Corbitt's Honesty, Jerome Harmon's Vibe, Timberland's blend of commercialism and artistry, and Chris Godbey's Engineering Genius.

The first single from C About Me, “If You Were Mine” produced by Eliot Sloan, Robi Menace and Wayne Stalling topped the Pop charts in 2005/2006. "If I'd known" bumped the west coast into submission with Magic from the NB riders, " The Way I Do" enticed people to feel luv again with the help of award winning producer and writer Steve Morales (google the name and respect it) and the single "Bittersweet & sour" rippled the country of S.Africa and help me go GOLD there and the new single there, "Get personal" is currently # 20 on the top 40 charts. Not to mention the last single "Call Me" made people hook up all over the country (trust me, I have first hand proof) and that album is a reflection of the music I grew up listening to. All the Motown stuff, 80s Pop and Rock as well as music I like today.

The debut album contains soothing, serene, tranquil, peaceful ballads alongside energetic and contagious dance tracks. I want my music to remind you of good times. I want my words and phrases I wrote on half of the album, to be more than a cliché.

Jerome Harmon (Kirk Franklin) is now working with Timbaland. . . (I'm happy for him, he desearves it), Magic from the NB Ridaz is now on his new album "Magic City" ( I'm so proud we're formthe same AZ city, go get the album, it's good), I have to thank Richie Blaze (Diane Warren) and Byron Booker for the music composeing boot camp they put me through, Scott Storch (Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit) for the knowledge of how to be commercial and Steve Morales (Enrique Iglesias) for teaching me what a TIMELESS song consists of. I also co-wrote more than half of the 15 songs on the C About Me album. ( My fav writers, Makeba, ES, and Rochella Seawrite)

Entitled C About Me, (a polite “pickup line” an open ended phraze I use to magnitize listeners.) I go out on a limb and tell u about my sensitive side and my true feelings about love, romance, breaking up and getting close. C About Me has become Marcos definition on how, w/ no instrumentation. . . . u can still make a song, there was 128 vocal in the track soloed out at one point in the song. Upbeat and contagious rhythms like Get Personal and Lovely Girl were my way of paying close attention to women with using compliments instead of aggressive behavior, while tracks like Bitter Sweet, address how twisted guys can get over sweet, attractive girls with sour attitudes ( all the guys reading this can relate). Confessions of love will ring true in devotional ballads like The Way I do, If You Were Mine (English or Spanish Remix), If I’d Known (a romantic apology), Call Me (yearning for a friend I have in South Dekota) Best of My Love ( By Rochella Seawrite ), set the stage for your tropical fantasy with cumbia/reggaetón track Bailamos or tropical pop track Latin Escapades and I’m Lost (heartache). . . . . . . . . but the new music. . . . . well. . . be ready to have ur mind twisted this spring w the release of the 2nd album. . . . inspired by the fanz I've met in 8 countries, and a million memorable moments and people, too unforgetable to deny in my life. . . . i hope it gives u an insight as to what happened to me this past year and how I've changed as a person. . . . Foniks From Another Faze"
