Album Notes
Born in Southern Italy and then thrown at a young age in South-Western UK, Marco Spiezia was brought up on a diet of pasta, sunshine and British surf. His father’s passion for music and guitar playing saw him grow up with the likes of Hendrix, Battisti and Nina Simone. Picking up his 1st guitar at the age of 12 his influences quickly spread into classic rock, jazz and metal.
What has emerged from the numerous musical experiences, as a solo artist and with various British bands, is a mix of pop, rock and jazz, dipped in a heavy dose of good vibes!

The veins of this feel good pop rock are filled with utterly danceable rhythms and a touch of swing, which will make it almost impossible for you not to get moving!
Described as “…somewhere between Gogol Bordello, the Kooks and The Beatles blended in a mixer…” the music has spread through South West England – with performances in festivals such as “Relentless Boardmasters” – all the way to Centre and Southern Italy where the band is currently based.

Following collaborations with various British musicians (including Peter Ibbetson, Marcus Penrose and Michael Hatton, with whom he recorded this EP), Marco is currently touring with British guitarist and pro-surfer Michael Hatton, backed up by a sparkling new Italian rhythm section: Luca Taurmino (drums) and Danilo Asturi (Bass).

The project has been backed up from day one by Dario Villa (accorgitene) an Italian entrepreneur who helped Marco cast the EP into what has become.
The latest addition is Gianfranco Clerici (screenplay) who is currently co-overseeing the project to have an album out in 2012.

Special thanks also go to Francesco Ferrari (singer from Grandi Animali Marini) and Francesco Cego who mixed the EP as "Frigo".

The philosophy behind these songs is simple: start by being happy to be alive and the rest will come!

The story behind the songs...

SMILE: Because there are too many sad and ugly things in the world, and there just isn't enough time for happiness and sadness.

SCARAMOUCHE: Because it's time to let the best out of us, to dance with life and stop being afraid to be what we are.

APPLE TREE: Because for long enough the central banks have fooled us into an inexistent freedom; because we own our own money. Find out what is segnourage and put an end to it.

Marco specialises in the upbeat and danceable, and he doesn't forsake the essential art of songwriting for the swing: he's good at both. Summer's just around the corner and I don't doubt that the man will be in great demand, putting his infectious groove about.

“Marco Spiezia, busting out some seriously up-beat, Latino-inspired, bouncy tunes, soon had a host of deliriously happy revellers dancing to the rhythm. If youʼre looking to have a dance, and a reminder of better days, this may be the band youʼre looking for”
