ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This project is the expression of an idea that began to form in my brain over a hundred years ago. But many of those years just trickled by as one good excuse after another succeeded in keeping me and my favorite musicians out of the recording studio. I'm not sure what the catalyst has been to get me off the couch. Maybe it was a clear recognition of my mortality. Or maybe it was simply that all the conditions just came into alignment. I had a little extra money, AND encouragement from lots of friends. My fingers still occasionally worked. My favorite musician friends were still alive. So, without apologies, I present here the result of a series of recording sessions both in St. Louis, Mo. and Tucson, Ariz. between April and September of 2016. I cannot express my gratitude enough to these fine players, for traveling so far, for giving it everything they had, and for being among the finest human beings I have ever known. As regards the selection of tunes, all are North American, some old, some not so old, some are almost brand new. They pay heartfelt tribute to a bunch of great fiddlers gone before me, with a few of my own melodies tossed in for your amusement........Namaste, Y'all.
