ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
These songs reflect an urban experience. While working on the streets of San Francisco, I wrote down my reflections of various places, people and events that left an impression on me, as I ventured through the different and distinct neighborhoods that make up San francisco`s diverse cultural enclaves. The image of rain appears several times throughout the album, representing a range of emotions associated with the falling rain. I witnessed the Snowy egrets , hunting in the dark, brackish waters near the Channel Pumping station, at China Basin. A Dragon parade in China town, that became the back drop for the song, ` I Dream Beijing'.As I walked through the Tenderloin District, I heard the impassioned exhortations of the `local homeless, Street Corner Prophet'. the song `For Brother Chaz', is meant as a tribute to a dear friend, that died unexpectedly, and whose funeral we could not attend, as his relatives had his body taken far away to another state before we had a chance to pay our last respects.`Clouds Bring the Rain ' is a song with a viewpoint, about the trials and tribulations of immigrants, who faced daunting journeys and social barriers, when attempting to enter America.`
`Jus'love you' is basically a love poem.`Free Parking ' is a light hearted shuffle.Everyone knows how difficult it is finding parking in San Francisco, especially downtown and how confusing it can be to try and understand all the parking rules and warnings. It can be like Russian Roulette, the chance of getting expensive parking tickets and even the dreaded experience of having your car towed away, while you are out shopping, is always a risky bet.. The song` Til Tomorrow' was inspired by an evening spent, drinking with a friend at the famous, hole in the wall, `Buddha Cocktail lounge' , in China town, on a rainy night.`On the Avenues' is a lover`s lament.`Invisible' is a slide guitar Blues , addressing the social issue of mental illness.`Voices in the Rain' uses the metaphor of an abandoned house, to describe a kind of existential idea of the passage of time and the illusive, fragility of life. So, there you have it! a brief break down of the album`s songs. I hope that you will enjoy listening, and taking the tour, as it were.
Sincerely,
Marc Edward Tilson
