ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Early Reviews:

"Simple arrangements, spare and handsome instrumentation, and exquisite singing that’s so honest it hurts a bit - listening to this recording made me look into my soul’s closet, searching for past bad behavior. John and Margo clearly love these songs, and render them with utter tenderness." Peter McCracken, Centrum, Pt. Townsend, WA

“Brilliant.” “...delicious new CD...” Gary Mortensen, DJ on Strictly Bluegrass show, KOOP Radio, Austin TX

“…a magical album that will make you love, laugh, cry and long for other times.” Nancy and Jim, Nancy’s Farm concert venue, Bellingham, WA

About Margo and John and The Sea and The Sky:

Raised on different shores of Puget Sound, Margo and John both spent summers in its cold, salty waters, floating on boats made of drift logs, and watching the sky and the ever-changing marine weather roll in. Five years ago, they met in a country music jam at a Puget sound music camp and discovered a mutual love of duet harmony singing.

Margo is well-versed in both vintage country and jazz and has serenaded couples on Seattle dance floors and delighted audiences with her velvet voice. John, a founding member of the Nooksack Valley Boys, a bluegrass band from Bellingham, WA, has a long career of commercial fishing, which seems to have put a salty soulfulness into his voice.

The Sea and The Sky was produced by John Miller, widely known on both coasts for his solo recordings (Rounder) and musical collaborations (Tony Trishka/John Reischman/Grant Dermody). Ruthie Dornfeld, internationally known fiddler and touring artist (American Café Orchestra) adds all the right touches to this soulful collection of old time and country duets.
