ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
From the frisky opener, "What a Little Moonlight Can Do," to the heart-wrenching "Memory," from the Broadway musical, Cats, Maria Damore takes you on a fun and diverse musical journey. Enjoy the old-time feel of Irving Berlin's "Moonshine Lullaby," with just piano and voice, then hop onto Stevie Wonder's "Another Star," with its surprising swing arrangement. Listen to Stephanie Winters' haunting cello and Maria's mesmerizing vocals on "Reaching For the Moon," then switch gears for a contemporary Broadway sound and thought-provoking story in Jason Robert Brown's "Stars and the Moon." Revel in the Artie Shaw gem, "Moonray," with its slick and sassy treatment, languish in the beauty of "Stardust, then feel the Latin groove on "It's Only a Paper Moon," with its unique salsa/swing arrangement. Savor the tasty solos of Maria's top-notch jazz musicians who shine on this album: Andy Roberts on piano, Steve Meashey on bass, Leon Jordan Sr. on drums, Grammy Award-winning David Cullen on guitar, Tom Strohman on saxophone, flute, clarinet, and Stephanie Winters on cello. Take to the night sky and enjoy "Moonglow."

FEMMES FATALES…Maria Damore
Maria Damore has a clear and polished Broadway sound to her delivery. Even better, her range is effortless as she swings and coos with Andy Roberts/key, Steve Meashey/b, Leon Jordan/dr, David Cullen/g and Tom Strohman/reeds on a collection of standards. She shows some moxie with a clever read of the 70s hit “Vincent” and makes it work well. Her intro to “Stardust” glows like a clear night, and she knows how to sizzle during “What A Little Moonlight Can Do” with Strohman’s sax cantering along. Lot’s to like here!
