Liner notes:
“Mending” is a mixed bag of songs and combos recorded over a 12-month period. It is my journey of creating studio versions of some songs that were written through a confusing period of transformation, grief and recovery. We mend ourselves little by little through love, faith, forgiveness and letting go. Peace is within our reach at all times. We just have to open our hearts and minds.

"Mending" features all original compositions that beautifully illustrate Maria's gentle swing and lyrical charm. It isn't easy putting a guitar between you and the mirror, then turning it around for the world to see..unless you're Maria Gillard"
~Frank DeBlase, City Newspaper, Rochester, NY

"Her love songs take more of a jazz feel then she flips the mood completely with a smoky sax added to a noir feel of bitterness. The most surprising song is a duet with Scott Regan, a lament on a world of trouble and uncertain future. The two musicians ask "Who's gonna mend this broken world?" without finding an answer."
~Jeff Spevak, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle
