Marian Schappell and Martin Mellinger can engage a wide audience with their new CD: “Journey into the Present“. This innovative songwriting team has created an exceptional Pop-Classical CD that also incorporates some World and Jazz sounds. Listeners are taken on a personal journey into the realm of life’s possibility and promise that does not disappoint.

With the musical talents and expertise from Schappell and Mellinger, these two artists resolutely complete each other. They have an incredible ability to create melodies using his insightful interpretation and her crystalline voice. This duo is able to grab hold and fill the music with meaning. They have created an extraordinary message through both lyrical meanings as well as impeccable musical writing.

Schappell has been performing before audiences for twenty-five years and has been a recording artist since 1990. Having performed for over 100,000 people through artist-in-residency programs and national music festivals, Schappell is noted for developing a deep connection with her audiences. Her CD, The Language of Angels, was released into worldwide distribution in 2004, for which she appeared on national TV in New Orleans. Schappell’s music has also been part of a national award-winning video regarding children's ministries.

Mellinger, a Grammy nominated producer, is a pianist, composer, arranger and studio musician for over twenty five years. Trained in both jazz and classical music, he was tapped by Bruce Springsteen to be the original keyboard player for the East Street Band. Mellinger studied piano composition and performance extensively with artists such as Malvina Leshock, Rosalyn Tureck, Chester Wittell, Adele Marcus, and Dennis Sandole.

Upon their first meeting, it was unquestionable that together, Schappell and Mellinger would be able to create music that was far more than “the sum of two parts“. These songs flow from a deep well of magical connection that is spiritual and musical. Schappell and Mellinger’s music encourages us to open our hearts to the journey of life and to walk the path together. In their song, You Are Never Alone, the words convey this ideal: “In your eyes I see beauty, though you see only night. When your grief takes you into a pool of dark surrender, let your heart remember me. Let your heart remember…My love is always in the air you breathe. My love is always in the sun that shines. You are never, never alone. I am here.”

It is certain that hearts will be moved as audiences experience this fresh, original music.
