ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Marie-Laure Boudreau plays and sings original material that draws on Cajun music, zydeco, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, swing and more. With deft rhythmic precision, passion, and a consistently strong groove, Boudreau melds these diverse elements into a distinctly personal sound, accompanied by some of south Louisiana’s leading young musicians. Boudreau’s debut release marks the emergence of an impressive and eclectic talent. -- Ben Sandmel [author of Zydeco! and Ernie K-Doe: The R&B Emperor of New Orleans]

A first album for the Island girl in Louisiana. Accompanying herself with guitar or diatonic accordeon, she is joined by musicians Blake Miller (fiddle), Randall Lee Jackson II (bass) and Glenn Fields (drums/ percussion). This EP presents a sample of various songs written in the course of the past ten years. "Dansé à l'île D'Entrée", the oldest composition on this album, brings us to a lobster fisherman's party. Others refer to difficult subjects like "Across the street neighbour" which speaks of violence sustained by a neighbor or "Pas de repos" that makes a direct reference to recent events involving the killings of unarmed citizens.
The album was recorded and mixed by Joel Savoy at SavoyFaire studios in Eunice, Louisiana, and mastered by Rob Murray at Poolside Sound in Austin, Texas.
