The Marina Swingers performed their first show in 1979 at LMU - 1 mile from Marina Del Rey, Ca and their last gig at Redondo Beaches’ local nite club favorite the Sweetwater a couple months before a wrecking ball leveled it into obscurity. During those three years the group performed many wild shows in the LA and South Bay areas and opened for such zesty acts as Oingo Boingo, Wall of Voodoo, the Blasters, the Bangles, 20/20 and Romeo Void.
The Swingers’ live shows were a tour de force and the various studio recordings demonstrated the band’s unique style, creativity and insane imagination. The Swingers also did a couple stints on cable’s New Wave Theatre and had minimal radio exposure on KMET, KROQ, The Dr. Demento Show and KXLU radio.
“Sunken Treasures” is a compilation of 16 studio and live recordings. Besides a couple remixes and over dubs most the tracks are from that era. The CD includes a poster photo collage and amusing band history bio. If you ever saw the band you’ll love the CD. If not you will wonder what the heck they were doing and scratch your head in amazement and curiosity. We hope you enjoy Sunken Treasures.
