Album Notes

Ricochet is Marion Walsh’s third and most ambitious CD. Unlike the songs on previous CDs, which were written from a place of longing, the original songs on Ricochet were created from a place of happiness and gratitude.

Recording Ricochet was a dream come true for Marion. She was joined in the studio by some of Canada’s finest muscians. Award-winning classical guitarist John Goulart produced the CD as well as playing acoustic and electric guitar and mandolin. Veteran drummer Casey Davis, who has played for the Coasters, Shirelles, Lou Rawls, Eddie Harris,Elvin Bishop among others, plays drums and percussion. Add to that Hugh Hancock (bass) and Mark Labelle (keyboards, background vocals), both members of the popular Calgary blues band The Bagboys; Canmore’s Joe Erneweine on saxophone; Dave “Swannee” Swanson on standup bass and harmonica; professional soprano Karen J Minish and Dave Crawford on background vocals; and Calgary’s Allegra Quartet, and it is easy to see why Marion has reached new heights with Ricochet.

The title track speaks of the satisfaction of finally having settled into a life that feels “right” after years of bouncing back and forth from one place to another, riding every wave, never quite feeling complete. With Ricochet, Marion has indeed come home.
