ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Early Years: Recordings from the Vault"
by Mark & Elisabeth Sooy

This MP3 release contains older recordings that had been archived on Cassette Tape. The songs are all original, written and produced by Mark. It's a fun opportunity to hear where we came from and what we were doing many years ago. These recordings include songs from two different projects.

The "Mark Scot" Tape - Recorded and Produced in 1987
Back in the day, Mark called himself "Mark Scot" -- leaving off his last name and using his middle name instead. During his college years he traveled regionally doing concerts and special appearances at churches. These tracks (#1 through #8) were recording on a Yamaha MT440 4-track recorder. This used a cassette tape, using the four tracks independently. So, with four tracks, I did some recording, mixing and bouncing to represent more tracks.

The Players were:
All Vocals and Keyboards: Mark Scot Sooy
Drums and Percussion: Eric Sooy
Cello: Elisabeth Spooner (now Elisabeth Sooy!)
Bass: Mark Scot Sooy
The Choir: Lurinda Warner, Steve Fosnot, David Holton, Cliff Tulsie, Duane Larson, Paul Jonas, Jeff Rosenzweig, Don Larson and Paul Baily

The "Who is Like our God?" Tape - Recorded and Produced in 1998
This project was meant to be a set of new Praise and Worship songs. On the tape we included recordings of the songs with vocals, while the reverse side included the Accompaniment Track for each song. These tracks (#9 through #14) represent three songs that were written by Mark. Recorded in the studios of the now-dissolved "Grace Music Company" which included full recording capabilities -- but again the Masters were all on tape! Lead sheets for these songs are also available in PDF format. The project was produced by Mark.

The Players were:
Vocals: Mark & Elisabeth Sooy
Keyboards: Mark & Elisabeth Sooy
Synth and Samples: Mark Sooy
Bass?
Drums and Percussion: Eric Sooy
Guitar?
