Album Notes

Formed in 2003 as a vehicle for singer-songwriter/guitar player Mark Lucas, the Dead Setters have played everywhere from corner pubs to major festivals, releasing half a dozen albums along the way. When not chasing the muse they give the nod to material from Robert Johnson to Bob Dylan, & Hank Williams to the Rolling Stones, but always for the sake of the song.
Roots, but not strictly folk, country, blues or Americana – this is Australian roots music, keeping an eye to the present and an ear to the past.
If you’re looking for the real thing they know where it went…
“perfectly exemplifies Lucas's love of the Heartworn Highways singer-songwriter school and his determination to tell Australian stories. Backed by the Dead Setters Lucas sounds right at home - like he's where he's destined to be.”
- Martin Jones, Rhythms Magazine
“This guy was born to write songs that you’d want to hear on your car stereo as you hit the road”
–Brent McKean, Revolver
“A seamless mix of country & folk from Down Under…encapsulates perfectly the appeal of the true singer-songwriter.” ****–MM, Maverick Magazine (UK)
“An album that puts Lucas up there with the best of singer songwriters, Americana with Australian stories.”
