Album Notes
This album features Mark playing multiple flutes, clarinets and saxophones on his own arrangements of Oscar's classic album. Seven mixed woodwind parts and rhythm form the accompaniment for saxophone solo features.

About Mark.......

MARK PROMANE is widely respected as a versatile saxophonist, woodwind doubler, arranger, composer, conductor, and clinician. He played lead alto in the Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra for 17 years and recorded five CDs with that band. He has worked with dozens of leading artists including Michael Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Phil Woods, Aretha Franklin, Gino Vanelli, and Maria Schneider, and plays lead alto with the Humber Faculty Big Band.

He has played in the pit orchestras for numerous hit musicals including the Toronto productions of 'Cats', 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Miss Saigon', 'Showboat', 'Spamalot', 'Les Miserables', 'Chicago', 'The Producers' (for which he was also Associate Conductor), and 'Wicked'. Most recently, he completed a two-year run on the Broadway show, 'Jersey Boys', playing saxophone, flute, clarinet, and oboe.

He has played on countless jingles, albums, and film scores, and has performed with major large ensembles including The Toronto Symphony, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Hamilton Philharmonic, and Rob McConnell and 'The Boss Brass'. He is proud to have served as a Juror for the Juno Awards in the "Traditional Jazz" category.

Mark is the current Head of the Saxophone/Woodwind Department in the Jazz Studies Degree Program at Humber College in Toronto.
