ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Traditional and original songs and tunes from Ireland and the UK. Songs feature solo male vocals backed by primarily acoustic instruments (guitar, bouzouki, fiddle, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, concertina, piano, and harmonica). Instrumentals feature tenor banjo or bouzouki in combination with fiddle, accordion, concertina, uilleann or Scottish small pipes, flute, harmonica, and/or piano, backed by acoustic guitar or bouzouki, and percussion (bodhran, bones, or pipe band snare drum). The sound is a blend of traditional and contemporary Celtic folk music, reminiscent of groups such as Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention and solo artists like Ralph McTell or June Tabor, with a decidedly acoustic (rather than electric) sound. Features tracks by the Appalachian folk group, Hickory Wind, the related duo, Safe Harbour, the Irish trio, Mitchelstown, and a host of other musicians. Truly unique!
