Album Notes
Marlo the EP can only be defined as a work in Memphis Music Production Chapter I. Marlo arrived on the music stage as a member of a well-tuned family band when music was music. His music lessons came from the veterans of the university of hard knocks. Life for his family band had been full speed ahead from day one. When the family band was less than a year old, they were the featured performers on a record entitled “Hook It to The Mule.” The record was released as Fred Towels and the Jacksonians. From there the Lanier family band the Jacksonians never looked back. This start saw the band working with such notable producers as Dan Greer, Bowlegs Miller, and Willie Mitchell. They found themselves serving as backing musicians for acts like Rufus Thomas, Eddie Floyd, Denise LaSalle, and Lynn White. All the time learning, all the time getting better. The band director for the band was the legendary saxophone player Sam Frazier. Sam had worked with such notable musicians as Jackie Wilson, Ike and Tina Turner, and the Isley Brothers. Marlo learned music in this environment and learn is what he did. By the time the band that started as the Jacksonians had changed their name to Lanier & Co. and begun to make the charts, Marlo had developed into a first-class vocalist as well as a saxophone player. The Bowlegs Miller production of “After I Cry Tonight“ placed the band in the limelight of the days music industry. Legendary promotion man Willie Bean along with the follow up Willie Mitchell produced album “Dancing in The Street” further propelled the band into the limelight of making hit music Marlo the EP returns you the glory days of R&B music and reintroduces you to the Lanier musical legacy. Marlo the EP will take you on a musical journey that you are not soon to forget. Marlo the EP is music made for music lovers by some of the best musicians in the music business. Marlo the EP is Memphis music by Memphis musicians.
