ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Every year at Christmas time, I re-read the biblical account of Christmas, found in the second chapter of Luke. The song, "A Shepherd's Wonder" was inspired in 2017 when I was particularly captivated by the shepherds and the range of emotions they experienced: fear, joy, excitement, awe, and wonder. I have tried to capture that emotional journey with this song. I hope you feel transported to the scene just as I was in that moment! Enjoy all year long!

Ticks all the boxes
This latest offering from Marlowe Carruth is as soft and smooth as they come, her latest single will echo over the years as a fine example of perfection in arrangement in the piano with instrumentation genre.
A Shepherd’s Wonder has a sense of awe and admiration built into the composition, the crescendos are perfectly delicious and all goes to manifest what would make an amazing sound track for a movie with ease.
Her beautifully fluent style is a pleasure to listen to and we can almost be right there with the artist in this most spectacular of pieces.
If you wish to buy yourself something so incredibly moving and emotive, something so pristinely created and produced, and performed with such passion, then you really need to look no further that A Shepherd’s Wonder by Marlowe Carruth, it ticks all the boxes and then some.

From MainlyPiano
“A Shepherd’s Wonder” is a beautiful new Christmas single by pianist/composer Marlowe Carruth, a nominee for Enlightened Piano Radio’s Best New Artist of 2017 award. Marlowe composed the piece last Christmas (2017) after reading the Christmas story in Luke 2. As she was meditating on the various emotions the shepherds must have experienced, she tried to capture those feelings in the music. She then worked with the amazing and very intuitive Doug Hammer as he orchestrated the piece “exactly as I felt it and then some!” The results are truly exceptional!

The piece begins as a very gentle piano solo with string washes that enhance the peaceful tone of the music. Harp, more strings and light percussion are added, evoking images of a dark sky and twinkling stars. At that point, the piano and strings start to build in intensity as the music swells and becomes fully orchestrated, suggesting the angels descending to tell the shepherds that Jesus was born. As inspiring as it is beautiful, this is a wonderful new addition to the Christmas music repertoire!
