Album Notes
Chapter One is a bookmark for Marshal Herridge in his musical journey. The album pays tribute to his musical studies and is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition and straight ahead hard bop playing. On this recording, the upright bass is featured as a solo instrument within a traditional jazz quartet setting. The album is a compilation of Marshal's compositions and is a clear representation of his voice both as a player and as a composer.

Marshal Herridge is a Vancouver born Jazz Bassist currently residing in Montreal, Canada. He has performed with some of North America's leading jazz musicians including Andre White, Kirk MacDonald, Joe Sullivan, Kevin Dean, Al McClean, Remi Bolduc, Dave Laing, Lorne Lofsky, Peter Bernstein, John Scofield, Donny McCaslin, Dick Oatts, Pat Labarbera, Brian Dickinson amongst others. He has currently completed a masters degree in jazz performance at McGill University.
