Album Notes
'Uncontrollable' has splashes of electric & modal sounding hooks. Insanely catchy big tune 'Love is All'. 'Wish I', anthemic on a bedroom scale, 'Fallen Angel' experimental without being oblique, and the sublime dub influenced grooves on 'Dream On, and Hip-Hop beats in 'Superstar' and rock anthem 'Never Mind', 'Uncontrallable' builds mountainous melodies in a Marshall singing world

superb pop/rock release on Furry UK, fantastic electro-pop tunes reminiscent of The Eurythmics. Amy Winehouse, with a hint of Jesus & Mary Chain....
in 2000 Marshall Star came together recording the first EP on Furry Records, 'Advance Promotional Copy'. Marshall Star toured the USA and Canada promoting the EP to college and public radio stations, travelling 20,000 miles to over 300 radio stations. The 'Robots' said 'imagine Gwen Guthrie's 'Ain't nothin' goin' on but the rent' run over by an 18 wheeler and you're about there'.

in 2002 Marshall Star released the 'Any Second Now' vinyl single on Furry Records to critical acclaim. Wire magazine described the record as 'scuzzy self-destructing mersch - the song is genuinely cracked'.

in 2004 Marshall Star released the 'Uncontrollable' CD album on Furry Records. Musician magazine said - 'alternative soul of the highest order'. Collaboration with art pioneers Chalkstack on the 'Any Second Now' promo film.

The first full-length release from this British duo is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. The band’s own label for its unique genre is urban/alt,? though it might better be described as R&B vocals layered over electronica. This male/female duo makes the most of electronic drum kits, sampling, and a plethora of vocal overlays to form a textured tapestry of cool soul that will appeal to the most jaded listener. Though bands such as Portishead and Morcheeba have made inroads in similar styles, no band yet has pushed the envelope as far as Marshall Star. Give this U.K. band huge marks for creativity and an uncompromising attitude.
