Milkyway Of Love is the 1999 solo album of Martin Bisi, performer/songwriter and prominent indie fringe record producer. Bisi has been at the forefront of studio recording since 1981, with a long discography that stretches from Iggy Pop, The Ramones and White Zombie to John Zorn, Herbie Hancock and Sonic Youth. He has also been an important thread in the history of independent music and culture, with a near continuous output, since the '80's of essential records by Foetus, Swans, Cop Shoot Cop, Live Skull, Unsane, Alice Donut, Boredoms, Brian Eno (Ambient -On Land), Angels Of Light, The Dresden Dolls, Serena Maneesh and most recently, Beat Circus. He has produced many notable World Music and avant-garde recordings as well in collaboration with Bill Laswell and John Zorn.
On Milkyway Of Love, Bisi creates a mutant, experimental-pop, americana concoction. The production is representative of his ongoing creative process. His persona is at once self-effacing, funny, raw and confrontational. The songs are amuzing vignettes of love and obsession.
