Album Notes
Rambling Blues finds Marty Christian stepping aside a bit from his songwriting and going headfirst into the Delta Blues on a trip through time with songs of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf Jimmy Rogers and others. Although his newest compositions and instrumental grooves are definitely found here as well, in Rambling Blues, Marty pays acoustic homage to the Blues influences that have guided him to live and perform around the Gulf Coast and his Roots music filled adopted home of Lafayette, Louisiana.

If Marty Christian’s music sounds like it comes from the back of a 1950’s Soul and Blues chitlin’ circuit juke joint, it’s probably because he spent his life traveling to hear and perform with some of the original musicians that made that music happen. The influence of Marty’s Blues comes directly from performing and recording with Henry Gray (2008-2012) – pianist from Howlin’ Wolf of Chess Records fame and Carol Fran the Gulf Coast Soul diva singer and stellar musician from Excello and Black Top records.

After releasing 4 solo CDs and one band CD (Rue Boogaloo) of original material, Christian continues to perform live across the South with acoustic performances that are a blend of Delta-inspired acoustic Blues and carefully crafted original songs.

“Marty Christian recalls the first sides of an acoustic Snooks Eaglin and at times, Van Morrison..." - Soul Bag, France

"Christian achieves an artistic milestone..." - Offbeat, New Orleans, LA

Christian’s music has been described as: "Despite Christian’s folkie sensibility, he also defies strict categorization. His vocals occasionally border on soul-ish and he dives into blues, swamp pop and infectious, Zeno-powered funk at the drop of a hat.”- Offbeat, New Orleans, LA

“Christian's sweet, country-tinged voice glides over the easy shuffle ...” - Living Blues
