Album Notes
High Octane features Marv’s aggressive flatpicking style and straight-ahead vocal arrangements.
‘Beardie’ powers the low end with percussive doghouse bass and brings to this live project his traditional bluegrass vocal styling.
Larry Crawford delivers fine time-honored fiddling throughout the album especially featured on a live version of "Lonesome Fiddle Blues".
Jack VanOrden rolls through the tunes with spot-on First Generation bluegrass drive and enthusiasm. Check out his signature arrangement of "Whoa Mule Whoa".
This Blue Plate Special project was recorded during May 2017 at the WDVX studio in front of a live audience in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The WDVX Blue Plate Special is a live performance radio show held at noon, with your host Red Hickey Monday through Friday and Doug Lauderdale on Saturday, at the WDVX studio inside the newly remodeled Knoxville Visitor Center. From blues to bluegrass, country to celtic, folk to funk, rockabilly to hillbilly, local to international, it all part of the live music experience on the WDVX Blue Plate Special.
WDVX is listener-supported community radio promoting cultural heritage of East Tennessee and the Southern Appalachian region with original programs showcasing live radio performance, under-represented arts, and emerging and local talent.
WDVX broadcasts on 89.9 FM, 102.9 FM in Knoxville and 93.9 FM Seymour/Kodak.

"Live a WDVX" is High Octane's Route 9 Records sixth CD release. Keeping with its traditional genre, the band steeps the project with vocal and instrumental styling reminiscent of bluegrass times past. High Octane is formed from a musical core comprised of guitar, fiddle, banjo, and bass fiddle. Simple lead vocals with traditional harmony 'icing' completes the band's old-time brand.

Marv Ashby & High Octane are veteran performers of the bluegrass circuit. High Octane can be found at shows throughout the US East, South and Midwest. Festivals, music halls, radio shows, and countless honky-tonks have hosted the fellers as they spread their bluegrass message.

A well rounded product of good ole 'roots' bluegrass-in-overdrive! Eleven tracks aimed to please. It's good for ya!
