The D Sound Sessions

by Mary and the Strays

Songs about love and loss spill out from the strummers' and singer's melodies, while mandolins hover heart beats over blue bass lines. No frills, just folk. This record harkens back to when records were truly a record of what happened in the studio..

Album Notes
When Maryann Fennimore, a bluegrass/folk singer/songwriter from Brooklyn, met Cristiano Urbani and Dario Pimpolari, they were playing in an Emo Rock band in Rome. The combination was sure to become a collaborative effort that would bear unique fruit. Since the group started playing together in 2009, they have developed a repetoire of folk that reaches over borders and beyond simple definition. The group is particularly excited about this record, because it is a voyeur's window into the studio with them. Instead of a glossy, overworked piece of production, these songs are, just as we are, unique with perfect imperfections.
