Album Notes
About The Mary Dream

Since their fated meeting through a classified ad in a San Francisco newspaper, Blake Ryan and Elise Bellew have been a prolific songwriting team, working meticulously to create their own unique sound and style of vibey alternative pop/rock.

From a profound and moving dream Elise had comes the name The Mary Dream. Elise's distinctive voice and impactful lyrics join together with Blake's tasteful chords and unique guitar layerings to create some of the most moving, yet melodic alternative pop/rock emerging today.

Beautiful World is The Mary Dream's first, official, full-length release on their own label SuperUniverse Records and was recorded almost entirely at home by Blake and Elise, except for the drum tracks, which were recorded by top Nashville session drummer Steve Brewster (Jewel, Faith Hill, etc.). The CD was mixed and mastered by producer Richie Biggs (Switchfoot, Nichole Nordeman, etc.) at The Art House in Nashville.

Beautiful World is a collection of 11 bittersweet and compelling songs that are dreamy and melodic. From the optimistic title track Beautiful World, to the hauntingly beautiful Say My Name, this CD is a must for listeners who are seeking to be moved in a deep and genuine way.

Beautiful World is currently being played on a growing number of independent radio stations throughout the U.S. and internationally. In 2006, the song How You Love Me was featured on ABC's All My Children and the song More was featured on MTV's The Real World, Denver. The Mary Dream currently plays live with a full band in Nashville and are in the process of writing and recording their next record This Kind of Life.

"The Mary Dream have combined all the best elements of pop with a sentiment that runs deeper. It would be a beautiful world indeed if more musicians followed suit." — Performing Songwriter Magazine

You’ll Enjoy Beautiful World
You’ll sway to “Stay,” you might get a little misty during “Say My Name,” and if you like your female vocalists to sing sweetly rather than snarl, you’ll enjoy chilling out to Beautiful World. –

Music filled with Joy & Hope...
I first came across The Mary Dream via MySpace. The first song that played when the page opened up was "Beautiful World". This is such a beautiful song. The lyrics imply that regardless of what we see on tv/read about concerning the current affairs and status of the world, this is indeed a beautiful world. "Keeping the Faith" is the true message of this song. It's this same song that happens to be the first track on the CD. The next 9 tracks take you on a journey. The songs will take you back into your past moments. Songs that make you feel about past relationships, insecurities, the continued search for inner peace & strength. Yet the last track, "Say My Name", is about Hope. This song is a reminder that there is a force something greater than any of us...and it's always there for the listening. All we have to do is reach out. Elise's voice is pure joy. The music never overwhelms her voice and the stories within each song. I truly believe this is one of my fave CDs of 2005. Thank you, Elise and Blake for a beautiful CD!

Beautiful Pop Songs Well Performed
I liked Beautiful World from the first spin. Then it grew on me even more with continued listens. This album is filled with nice pop songs, sometimes on the dreamy side... It's pretty impressive that this much sound comes out of just two people… It's a great sound, very full and lush… This is a nice CD of beautiful pop songs well performed. -

Beautiful & Noteworthy Indie Release
The Mary Dream delivers a radio-friendly album with Beautiful World, which is a nice mix of sweet, melodic, optimistic songs that are quite cinematic. Elise’s sweet vocals are bursting with an effortless zest and warmth, and compliment the laid back flow of the songs, which are bittersweet, nostalgic and most of all, honest and quite assertive. Fans of Heather Nova, Aimee Mann, Jewel, Ivy, Sheryl Crow, Duncan Sheik or The Sundays will find lots of tracks to enjoy in this beautiful and noteworthy indie release. - Sakis Pavlakakis

Great !!
it's all great!!!

More Than Just Fine Music
The multi-faceted beauty that surrounds and encompasses us, beguiling our senses and stimulating our minds finds expressive personification in The Mary Dream’s lush, expansive music. Elise’s ethereal vocals and Blake’s textured, nuanced layers of sound lead us on a melodic pilgrimage of discovery, contemplation and appreciation through the vast dimensions of the heart, mind and spirit...this is true art for the ears and balm for the world-weary soul.
"Say My Name" nearly unhinged me in its startlingly spare yet deeply penetrating delivery – and I have just acquired my own copy of Beautiful World so I can perpetuate this dreamy interlude at will. My only regret is the time lost since it became available - soon to be remedied!
Purchasing a copy assures the listener of an experience not soon to be repeated (that is, until The Mary Dream releases another ear-candy-laden CD!)...

Very touching, haunting at times. AWESOME CD
I really like the arrangement of the guitar music and Elise has such a crisp voice. The CD is well arranged and in my opinion, very high quality and professional.

"Consistently affecting bittersweet pop rock".
"Consistently affecting bittersweet pop rock, with arrangements and
performances that optimize the drama of the material. Mood plus hook -
that's definitely The Mary Dream thing".
