Album Notes
Mason Black formed in January 2002 when Danny Drowns (vocalist, guitarist) and Dave Dennis (guitarist)
met up with J.P. Tadpole (bassist) and Dan Ferguson (drums). Within a few months, Mason Black had
recorded a 6-track demo, a 3-track EP and began playing live at venues around the Kansas City area. In less than a year of their formation, Mason Black had received regular air play on several radio shows.

Mason Black has created a sound that might best be described as modern rock with tastes of pop, punk,
and jazz. The music sometimes grooves and sometimes drives. All this is evident on Halfway To The
Moon, the band's 13 track debut CD, which was self-produced and recorded at Neighborhood Studios in Lawrence, Kansas.

Solid Kansas City Rock
This is a smooth CD. Every track starts with a super groove and the musicianship is top-notch throughout. If you are looking for alternative Kansas City rock and roll with great hooks and growly vocals, this is the CD. I played it at a sorority fundraiser and everyone kept asking me where to find it. Mason Black is tight!!!

Rockin' and chillin' music
This CD rocks! I heard these guys play in Kansas City. Really smooth sound. Beats half the crap you hear on the radio. I keep listening to this CD in my car. Any more out there?

well-made modern rock
I tried this CD an an experiment and it paid off. Melodic modern rock with a smooth, driving style. Good for when you wanna jump around or when you wanna just chill. And an unexpected harmonica solo in the middle of it. It's taking away my winter blues.

Etched in your mind
Once I heard "Gets me by," I knew it was love at first sight. Sight from my memory of being in love. This song is so simple and touching that it made me remember all my forgotten dreams. Good guitar licks with a powerful, tender voice. The lyrics are so refreshing, close to the heart. Good song to play for your partner.
