ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Razavi's latest album, Quartet Plus, features original compositions that are steeped in the jazz tradition , but are forward reaching at the same time, creating a balance that is both familiar and innovative. Half of the music on this record is performed by a quartet (guitar, piano, bass, drums) while the other half features the quartet plus a 5-horn section.

The music ranges from stirring ballads to driving backbeats, from odd time signatures and deep rhythms to singable melodies and lyrical improvisation. The focus of the album is Razavi's compositions and arrangements, but Razavi still leaves plenty of room for improvisation in each selection. This album will be a great listen for anyone who enjoys guitar music, lush arrangements, and contemporary sounds.
