English
Germany’s veteran folk band „Matching Ties” proudly presents their latest and 6th CD “Here’s a Health to the Company“ a collection of 15 modern and traditional Irish, Scottish and English folk songs, ballads and dance tunes. Traditional songs about the hardships of immigration, the dangers of life at sea, love and farewell are arranged in Matching Ties original instrumental and vocal setting on a myriad of instruments. Artists on the CD include founding duo Trevor Morriss (London) on mandolin, guitar, Irish bouzouki and vocals and Paul Stowe (USA) on guitar and vocals, (the two of them have toured since 1986 together with over 3000 concerts), as well as Peter Corbett (Ireland) fiddle and vocals and Konrad Stock (Munich) on bodrán (irish drum) and tin and low whistles. Guest musicians on the production include Irishman Dermot Hyde (Ireland), Munich based folk veteran on uilleann pipes and low whistles, who is a regular at many Matching Ties-Quintet concerts, Englishman Paul Richards on the melodeon (accordion), upright bass player Thomas Kaerner, a part-time Matching Ties member and member of Grass Root Ties, Matching Ties sister bluegrass, blues and swing band and Paul’s neighbor Hubert Nuener on snare.
Matching Ties tours throughout Europe and in the U.S. with an average 100 concerts per year at festivals and selected stages. They present “Irish Folk Nights” in halls and larger stages with the excellent Munich based “Tir na nÓg Irish Dance Troupe”, or at selected performances with further bands among Germany’s best or from Ireland.
