Album Notes
Composer and lyricist, singer and guitarist, Mathew Joseph, from the coastal state of Kerala in the south west of India, brings to the stage of World Music his new CD release, Firefly - a reflection of his experiences with the magic and mystery of his homeland, and of his many travels in the high Himalayas.

A childhood filled with music, many years spent exploring a variety of musical styles and his recent re-union with multi-instrumentalist Oliver Rajamani and reggae virtuoso David Estes have resulted in a delightful celebration of sound and a refreshing journey of the spirit.

Mathew was finalist in the International Songwriting Competition 2004 and the U.K Songwriting Contest 2005 in the Instrumental category with the track "Kaliyug". His instrumental compositions for Waterspout theatre's production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" have recieved much critical acclaim.

Well done Mathew and friends!
While this album may be categorized as “World Music”, I feel it is much more than that. “Firefly” is a beautifully crafted piece of work that features a broad spectrum of styles and instruments. Brilliant performances combine with top-notch recording, mixing and mastering to create an album that every music fan should have in their collection.

Tired of the same old music....listen to this CD. The guitar, tablas, vocals create a beautiful blend of the East and West. This music took me from the beaches in California to the desert in Rajasthan. A must for your own personal collection.

Both entertaining and soulful. Clever fusion of traditional Indian with modern w
Listening to Mathew joseph's CD is an experience that enchants and touches the soul. Every track is a stunning, breathtaking fusion of different styles with Indian music. Clever use of traditional Indian percussion to play haunting melodies in Blues, Reggae and jazz create a new sound that grows on you every time you listen to it. By sticking to acoustic instruments and using striking vocals with harmony gives a natural colour to the songs.

I like it! Rambling and joyful like a true seeker of music!

I recently bought the CD and find myself contantly listening to it. The artist has blended east and west music with tabala's, electric guitar, rich bass background,Tabala (Indian drums)and beautifu vocals to really punch out the sound.
