Album Notes
Matt & Dad Sing! " We're Gonna Have Some Fun!" is the first children's CD from father and son team of Harold and Matthew Jackson. "Dad" (Harold) relates the origin of the music." I started singing when I was a little boy at the age of 3. I grew up listening to the Motown greats of the day. At about 10 years old, I taught myself how to play guitar and I began to write songs. After graduating from college with a Bachelor of Teaching degree (Sam Houston State University, GO BEARKATS!), I continued singing and writing songs. I wrote these songs for our first son, Matthew when he was enrolled in kindergarten. I would go to his school and perform these songs for his class." "One time, I had just began to sing to the class when the teacher stopped me. I thought that something was wrong until I saw that she was going to get 4 OTHER TEACHERS AND THEIR STUDENTS TO CRAM IN HER ROOM!" " After that, we had BIG FUN!"
He goes on to talk about the other half of the duo, his oldest son Matthew. " What can I say about Matt? " I wrote these songs for him, and he (at the age of 13) ends up playing all the instruments, and co-producing this project. " Matthew has great musical production chops and know what to put where in a song. " "Boy Wonder," as he is affectionately called by father, taught himself to play songs by pecking out tunes on the family piano at the age of 3. He also went on to teach himself guitar, drums, congas, and banjo. He attended Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas where he majored in music. (Percussion) He received a Distinguished Musician award during his sophomore year.
The youngest Jackson. Micah, loves music almost as much as he loves collecting Ratchet & Clank action figures and playing video games. He was able, along with is sister (Nyesha) to make an appearance on his favorite songs at that time, "Bug Get Off My Head & Months Of The Year!".
