ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Matt Farris is a cutting edge country singer from Nashville TN... He was raised in Lake Havasu City AZ where he has been entertaining everyone in his family since he could talk. At the age of 8 his parents bought him a guitar and he immediately took a liking to country music. He would walk around singing Johnny Cash tunes and playing Sweet Home Alabama. When Matt graduated high school he moved to Phoenix AZ to live with his Father and continue his education. He attended college and became an Emergency Medical Technician. He went on to attend a Fire Academy class and is a certified Fire Fighter in the state of Arizona. He continued his musical interests as well entering talent searches and singing for anyone that would stop and listen. Matt was a contestant for Nashville week on Nashville Star in 2008.

Following a horrific night where Matt and his Dad were both shot by thieves trying to steal his truck, Matt turned to his family roots and asked his Dad Jeff to play music with him. Jeff agreed and called his Dad Tom who had played drums in the 70s and 80s. 3 generations playing music together was a very cool way to spend time together while recovering.
Matt’s music career was starting to take off and he played out with his Dad and Grandpa around Phoenix. Matt surprised his Dad and Grandpa by entering them all in the 2010 Colgate Country Showdown. After the 2010 Colgate Country Showdown Arizona State Finals, encouraged by his success Matt moved to Nashville to pursue his dream of making records and singing country music full time. When his Dad and Grandpa are not playing in the band you will see them singing backup vocals with Matt and his band KinFolk. A very fitting name for a musical family band.

Matt strongly believes in giving back and he does so thru tirelessly performing for Make a Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Awareness. After losing a close friend to breast cancer Matt started an annual benefit in his home town of Lake Havasu called Denise’s Day, now in its 4th year.

Matt signed with Skytone Entertainment, LLC Nashville late 2011 and is currently working with veteran producer and President of Skytone Records, Frank Green. The result is his debut, self titled album... "Matt Farris". It contains a collection of 12 well crafted rockin' country songs. His first single, Redneck Radio, has had success on many national country charts! Matt's new single, Resident Redneck has just been released and shows great promise as well
