ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The second of a three-record retrospective project designed to revisit and re-imagine songs from Matthew's library as selected by friends and fans, a crowdfunding perk given to those who helped bankroll his last album Songs In the Key of Your Face (also available on CDBaby). Volume 2 draws from Grimm's contemporary solo work and Hangdogs songs stretching back to the band's second album East of Yesterday (1997), even featuring a revised version of the never-released title track of that album, as well as the brand-spanking-new song "Nazis In Oregon." Where Volume 1 was designated as a folky acoustic record, Volume 2 amps up into a full-throated roots rock record instrumented with acoustic and electric guitars, full drum kit and keyboards.

All songs written, produced and performed by Matthew Grimm, except for "Flatlands," by Matthew Grimm and Bruce Henderson. This record also features Hannah Drollinger on violin and Slim Simon on lead and additional rhythm guitar parts and Pete Mancini on lead guitar on "Nazis In Oregon."

Executive producers: Danielle Smith, Christie Lau, Brandon Parkhurst, Ken Diamond & Jane Von Mehren, Maria Loginova, Elliott Vanskike & Julie Schmid, Patrick & Jeanie O'Shaughnessy, Jon Berry

Recorded in Madison, WI. Mastered by John Svec in Iowa City, IA. Art by Brandy Gale.
