The Spectrum (Different Rays of Life)
A child of love’s a thing of joy A little girl, a little boy
It’s enough to make you think the world’s your own
We kissed your head and held your hand
And we made the greatest plans
Wondering how it’s gonna be when you are grown

You know you’ll always have my heart
Though some things set you apart
And it sometimes makes me feel so all alone
We watch you grow and watch you change
We question and we pray
Wondering will this child make it on his own?

They say a rainbow is a spectrum made of different rays of light
Well maybe you are on a spectrum made of different rays of life
Before you go let me hold you and tell you it’s alright
All my life, my love, always My child

There’s a new challenge every day
As you learn and as you play
As we rise above, sometimes we sink below
There are times I get it wrong
And I’m tired of being strong
But I’m sure we’ve done our best, that’s all I know

They say a rainbow is a spectrum made of different rays of light
Well maybe you are on a spectrum made of different rays of life
Before you go let me hold you and tell you it’s alright
All my life, my love, always My child

Some people want to know how you got this way Or why you are this way
But it only matters how we love you each and every day

They say a rainbow is a spectrum made of different rays of light
Well maybe you are on a spectrum made of different rays of life
Before you go let me hold you and tell you it’s alright
All my life, my love, always My child
