Album Notes
Some people have told me that this is the greatest Christmas album ever recorded; while others, being more specific, said it's the greatest JAZZ Christmas album ever recorded; and then there's few Scrooges out there who have just said, “Bah, humbug!”
All kidding aside, my intent with this album was to offer engaging Christmas music for non-jazz fans, and/or engaging jazz music for anyone burnt out on Christmas stuff. And ever since its release, this album has apparently (giving much credit to its divine inspiration) achieved the across-the-board appeal I had envisioned. Please give it a listen and decide for yourself!
A little bit about me: I freelance as a professional pianist, keyboardist, Hammond organist, and vocalist in the NYC area, and have performed throughout the USA and 20 other countries as well. I've played and recorded with many great jazz artists, including Chuck Loeb, Rufus Reid, Chris Potter, Benny Golson, Billy Hart, Joe Morello, Charles MacPherson, & Claudio Roditi.
My musical philosophy is basically in line with that of the late great Duke Ellington, whom I'll paraphrase:
“There’s only two kinds of music: Good and Bad. And if it SOUNDS good, it IS good!”
So, I hope this music “sounds good” to you; thanks for listening (and please tell your friends about it!)

This has been one of our favorite Christmas albums since our daughter gave it to us at least 10 years ago. Matt was her neighbor at that time & we have never gotten over the talent & quality of his work. Sensational!

Everyone MUST have this!!!!
I received this Christmas CD about a week ago. I play it non-stop!!! I play it at work, my customers love it and play it in my car to and from work. This is definitely a "feel good" CD. I have been a friend and fan of Matt's since grade school...this is exactly what we, at Adams Grade School always knew that Matt would be doing with his very talented life. Every person needs to add this CD to their collection, I have just put away my "steamroller" CD for this Christmas season!!! Matt, you should be very proud of yourself, I feel very lucky and blessed to be your friend. Love you much!!!!

Welcome, year after year
This is an update on my previous review. Now, it's over 15 years since we received the cd, & Welcome Christmas is the still the album that best reminds us of the joy & beauty of the Christmas season.

"Welcome, Christmas"
We bought our first "Welcome Christmas" in 1996 (also multiple copies to give as gifts :>) and ever since, it has led us immediately from Thanksgiving dinner to Christmas beginnings, inspired not only to listen, but sing along ...... yes, really!! Thanks Matt, and all of you amazing interpreters of this very dear-to-us music of the season.
