Album Notes
“A Live Celebration: Kobe, Japan" (2014) is a fun and energetic follow-up to my 2013 release, "A Bigger Celebration."

This live album was recorded in Kobe, Japan in September 2012, during my very first tour of Japan. My friend and fellow Berklee College of Music alumnus Shota Ishikawa is on bass, and renowned jazz musician Tatsuhiko Takeda is on drums. Dai Murata of Kobe Modern Jazz Club coordinated the tour and helped make the album; Grammy-nominated Jonathan Wyner engineered the audio.

The album features two brand-new original compositions: the opener "We Are Alive" and the three-part "Session Suite." Tunes from the last two albums "A Bigger Celebration" and "Welcome Home" are also included.

All eight songs are originals, and there's a surprise ending.

I hope you enjoy this new album!

Matt Savage - piano
Shota Ishikawa - bass
Tatsuhiko Takeda - drums
