Album Notes
The recording was done the vintage way, capturing a sound and warmth that have
become rare today. Recording sessions were held in Paris. The Album was mixed in Philadelphia. During the process, Maty Soul also travelled to New York and Kingston Jamaïca, giving her album a special worldwide flavor.

“The Price Of Consciousness” features contributions from some of the most talented session musicians - Drummer Gene Lake (Meshell Ndegeocello, Maxwell), bassist Michel Alibo, singer Karen Bernod (Mary J Blige, Chaka Khan), producer Rashad Smith (Lauryn Hill, Notorious B.I.G., Erykah Badu) - and engineers in the game, including Grammy winning Jon Smeltz (Dave Chappelle's Block Party, Al Green...) and Russell Elevado (Alicia Keys, Common, D'Angelo's "Voodoo", Bilal...). All of them contributed their invaluable experience to That Natural High (the producers and
composers consisting of Maty Soul and Walking Bass). Walking Bass is also featured as a rapper on two songs. Guitarist Eric Delval is the arranger.

Maty Soul's first full-length LP is a thought-provoking collection of songs consisting of fourteen tracks, no fillers. It features lyrics about social awareness, multiracialism and love. She dedicates "Enfants De Martin Luther King" to that human rights icon, covers Bob Marley's "War" and also pays tribute to Lauryn Hill by singing "Forgive Them Father" as an interlude.

The album's title basically expresses that taking the path of conscience is not an easy choice. One may pay for not fitting in with the crowd and not keeping silent about things that matter. But most importantly by choosing this path, one will open the doors of Freedom, and Truth, in an intense life.
