ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Youth choirs in Kenya, Mumbai and Los Angeles. A young adult choir in Kenya. Three cutting edge producer/writers in Los Angeles.

Guests from Africa, India, Argentina, China and the US. All performing on both Western and exotic instruments, intertwined with up to the moment sounds and samples.

Guest lead vocalists Theo Souder and BLU NYLE.

This is the sixth CD in ten years for Maurice and it is all tied together with his saxophones, flutes, compositions, production and engineering skills.

Maurice completed studies at Boston's renown Berklee College of Music in Composition and Performance. He also received a National Endowment For The Arts scholarship to study under Jazz legend Lew Tabackin. Of his first CD “Jazz Sunrise” Billboard Magazine said “Maurice is a man to hear.” In addition to leading his own band, Maurice was a featured soloist with The Marcelo Berestovoy Band (Marcelo tours with Paulina Rubio), New Pacific (a band that combines Indonesian and other Asian music with Jazz) and was Music Director/performer with “The Hues Corporation” (Rock The Boat) for over 10 years. He currently is a member of Latin Rock/Soul legend Little Willie G’s band.

In 1988 he opened his recording studio Maurice Gainen Productions in Los Angeles’ “hipster haven” Silverlake, just east of Hollywood. Since then, he has produced, recorded, mixed and mastered too many CDs to count in all genres including Jazz, Alternative, Rap, R&B, Rock, Broadway and World Music. He has also played flute and/or sax on many of these CDs. He does CD Mastering for all of the major record labels and his recent credits include over 185 CD’s for Starbucks. A song recorded in his studio by James Webber is in the Weinstein Bros. Movie “The Disappearance of Elanor Rigby” and on the Universal Music soundtrack.

Details about Maurice and all of his CD’s are available on his website. Just take the link on this page.

Grease

Yeah!
In his latest offering, Maurice continues his musical quest of "tryin' to make the world smaller" in the best possible sense, by interweaving the work of talented musicians from around the globe with his own unique sensibility as a composer, horn player and producer. The result is a collection of fresh, energetic and beautiful tracks which resonate with the universality of human experience. Give'em a listen!
