Album Notes
Steve Mayone, a songwriter for over 20 years, has honed his craft in New York City and Boston, where he released several albums with numerous bands, such as Hummer, The Benders, and Sticky. In 2004 Umver Records released his debut album Bedroom Rockstar to glowing reviews from around the globe: Americana UK called Mayone “a master songsmith,” while Panartist said “each track is a bullet of well crafted sophisto folk-pop.” In 2005 he released his sophomore album Unfortunate Son. Miles of Music said, “Mayone ties up all of Americana, folk, classic and roots-rock, effortlessly flowing from one to the next and never at a loss for interest.” Understories – his third release – was recorded acoustically and Smother praised it as “a favorite for a long time coming.” Steve has toured Europe and the States with notable artists Kris Delmhorst and Todd Thibaud, and is presently recording and touring with Bow Thayer and Perfect Train Wreck. They have been featured at Levon Helms’ Midnight Ramble, and also recorded with the legend for Bow’s CD Spend It All. Steve Mayone is presently finishing his fourth CD, entitled Long Play Record, which will be released in October 2009 on the legendary Cambridge label Hi-n-Dry. Steve has been focusing on his writing and placing songs with other artists and in film and television. The website TAXI has forwarded numerous songs and instrumentals of Steve’s to publishers and agents.
