Album Notes
Fireleap is Michelle's third full CD and was met with much acclaim being featured in Genre Spotlights and moved up quickly in the Pop and Folk Charts immediately after its release.

This CD is the ultimate Chant CD for Beltane.

In a recent review by noted Llewellyn author, Carl Neal, said this about Michelle's work and Fireleap:

"Wow. Once again I am stunned by a CD. Track after track is moving and beautiful. The first two tracks alone are worth the price of admission. Somehow, every CD you create manages to bring tears to my eyes and this one is no exception. The sheer joy and energy of the music transports me away from mundane life. Michelle, you are the greatest musical treasure this state has offered the world since Woody Guthrie. The vocals, instrumentals and mixing are all superb. Track 7, "Dream Weavers", is particularly stunning. It's complex and simple at the same time. It is beauty that only true musical talent could unleash. Thanks Michelle - you're a true gem."

Each song on this CD has been hand picked or specially created for the Beltane season.

Among the nine tantalizing tracks on the CD are classics such as Yabbo, an African Chant for peace, healing and Community. Well known and beloved Musician Heather Alexander added her distinct voice to this track which was recorded at a Beltane event. The strong tribal vocals and mesmerizing drum beats will fill the mind with images of exotic places.

With permission from Starhawk, Michelle reworked the chant Snakewoman to create Snakewoman/Spiral of Life, which has already met with much critical acclaim.

From the title track, Fireleap, Michelle has taken a traditional song, reworked the lyrics. She weaves a magical spell of enchantment for the individual, the family and world.

And what would a Beltane CD be without Gently Johnny? Many will be glad to hear that her instant classic of Gently Johnny has been leant to this CD as well. Gently Johnny is, after all, a perfect Beltane song!

Evoking Beltane, a song/chant does just what it promises in its title, while Dream Weavers, another song/chant, gently takes the mind into a place of peace. Dream Weavers was designed to elicit the Alpha brainwave state. The Alpha brainwave state is one of creativity and gives one the feeling of being in trance.

Michelle also weaves the interconnection of magick, energy, and love in the song/chant - Making a Connection.

For the finale of this work, the ending two tracks were woven together to form a message from the Goddess. Creation... is the prelude to Michelle's own take on the classic Earth My Body.

As a special gift, the voice of Mother Earth herself, recorded from our spacecraft orbiting the earth, has been added to enhance the meaning of the Earth My Body chant. These recorded sounds of the natural vibrational waves from the Earth herself resemble the sounds of Nature - literally sounding like the calls of birds and springtime frogs calling out to each other! It's amazing to hear and amazing to understand that these beautiful sounds of nature, sounds of the Earth, were actually recorded from Outer Space! It really is the sound of the Earth as heard from outer Space! It seemed to be the perfect thing to add to this Song of the elements and Mother Earth.. that which is life itself.

I think the album is great! It is refreshing to hear honesty in songs and I really enjoy Michelle's voice!

M.A. Foster - Zodiac Bistro

A well produced CD, with good sound and quality studio work.
I can see this CD being used by groups for some nice new additions to their Beltane ritual music or for other ritual events, whether it be using the CD as a background for their celebration, or learning the material with their group to sing at their gathering. The CD itself is a great learning tool, as well as being a nice addition to a solitary working as background and sing along.

The material all relates to the Celebration of Beltane, having a very “fertile” appeal in either content or suggestion. Some of the pieces are clever in their lyrics and composition. There is good material here for group chanting.

If you love Michelle Mays work, as I do, this is a must add just for her arrangements and vocals. If you have a group and are looking for something different and upbeat to add to your Beltane Celebrations, this is an excellent choice to work with. Either way, this is a great CD.
