NONE BETTER...PERIOD!, November 4, 2004 Reviewer: Danny Lightfoot.
Snowed In is the BEST Christmas music for lovers !! 'Nuff said. -- DL

BEAUTIFUL ADDITION TO A CHRISTMAS COLLECTION -- January 4, 2001 Reviewer: Mary Sorens.

I bought all of Mary Beth's CDs after hearing one of her songs! Her voice is as smooth as silk, her writing pensive and creative, and her piano playing extraordinary. Her songs will fit your every mood, from sorrowful to sassy and everywhere in between. Her songs bring back memories, even though you've never heard them before. This album is simply delightful. There are fun songs that make you want to dance, mellow melodies that play softly during a Christmas gathering, and even a story-song that will have you hanging on every word. Although there are no traditional Christmas songs here, this piano and beautiful voice fit perfectly into the holidays. Romance, delight, and laughter are all wrapped up in one cd. Buy it!

Note frome the Artist, Mary Beth Maziarz:
"Snowed In" came about when a local media company came to me in October several years ago and asked if I could write and record a holiday album for them to send out as a gift for their 5000 clients and employees. And have it ready to deliver by early December. It sounded like a great challenge. I thought, why not give it a shot?

So I got to work, and began thinking about making a cool, retro album that emulated some of my old favorites, like Chet Baker, Doris Day, and Julie London. Graham Russell from Air Supply lent us his beautiful vintage Telefunken microphone (which we handled as if it were made of gold, which in some ways it IS!), the boys at Ricci Martin's studio helped me out (Dean Martin's son), and inspiration was kind enough to step forward and offer some fun wintery songs.

I thought it would be cool to make it a "wintery" record, rather than a specifically Christmas one...the wintertime is magical in the ski town where I live, but people visit here from all different backgrounds and spiritual beliefs, so I wanted to include as many folks as I could in the musical reverie. So although Christmas is mentioned a few times, the songs are largely about growing up, frolicking in the snow (or by the fire!), falling in love or missing the one your heart yearns for. There's even a funny one about a girl who thinks her boyfriend is going to propose on New Year's Eve. Well, he'll propose SOMETHING.

We recorded the whole record as a trio and brought in occasional great guests...B.Murphy as my compatriot on "Times Like These", Horn-player extraordinaire John Flanders on several tunes. We even dimmed all the lights and recorded "Since You've Gone" by candlelight in the middle of the night as we got down to the wire.

I feel that my youth and inexperience probably shows a little bit when I listen back to "Snowed In", but it has a really special place in my heart, and I can't count all the lovely people who tell me they love bringing it out and swinging along with it each Nov and December. I hope you like it. Thanks so much.
