Album Notes
"the illy-ad" is a concept album recorded over the course of a 3 and a half year period. as a result, a tremendous amount of growth is evident both artistically and personally. the beauty of this album lies in the fact that i had it laid out structurally long before I filled in the blanks. i also filled in the blanks in no particular order at varying times in said growth period, resulting in a roller coaster ride of a listen both sonically and topically. as far as the track selection goes, this album is part satire, part window to my heart and mind, and part "I can rap better than you." this album isn't about creating an accurate reflection of the artist or person i am today, but more so manifests itself as a reflection of my journey in life and hip hop. it also chronologically mimics life in general to an extent, and because I obviously haven't reached certain vantage points yet, I had to attack all of the album's subject matter in an innovative fashion. i really think this album pushes the limits conceptually, lyrically, as well as sonically, and i truly hope that listeners digest it as i intended.
