Album Notes
“..Tuneful and loud; a fresh take on the classic rock sound.” -Stephen K. Peeples, The Signal Newspaper

This album contains the hit singles:
The Chance
Where You Belong

In the follow-up to McGrath’s Insomniatic Daydream, McGrath Project founder and frontman Gary McGrath tapped some veteran rock-n-roll heavyweights to deliver a powerful ‘new’ rock-n-roll sound. (McGrath is a two-time award winning producer and veteran musician himself (Penny Gilley, Bon Jovi, Peter Tork’s post-Monkees band Shoe Suede Blues, and Monkee solo and reunion tours)

Joining McGrath in The McGrath Project is Vanilla Fudge bass player and Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Tim Bogert. A longtime friend of McGrath, Bogert has performed with Rod Stewart, Billy Cobham, Steve Perry, Bobby and the Midnights, Rick Derringer, Ronnie Laws, Boxer and Ginger Baker and many more world-class players and bands over the years.

Drummer Bryan Head is currently on the road with the supergroup Foreigner. In addition to The McGrath Project, he can also be seen playing with Dick Dale, Hilary Duff, Dead Rock West and Jason Freddy. Head was the studio drummer for the Walt Disney "High School Musical" CDs and Hilary Duff's CDs.

Sitting in for Head until he returns from his Foreigner tour at the McGrath Project appearances is drummer Brian "Dogboy" Burhill. He's worked as the house drummer for the American Music Awards and has been signed by "American Idol's" Randy Jackson to Columbia Records in the band Neve. He has toured the world opening for bands like Kiss, Rage and many more.

Keyboardist Teddy Zig Zag (Teddy Andreadis) is a highly esteemed and accredited multi-instrumentalist and singer. His talent and versatility have earned him recognition not only in the United States, but also internationally. He has shared stages with a diverse roster of musical talent including Guns n' Roses, Alice Cooper, Billy Bob Thornton, Carole King, Gilby Clark, Beth Hart, Mark Farner, Don Felder, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, B.B. King and Bruce Willis. He has also has contributed his talents to the albums of many renowned musicians, including Carole King, Alice Cooper, The Boneshakers, Billy Bob Thornton, Lee Oskar, Nikki Sixx, Duff McKagan, Gilby Clarke and Slash's Snakepit and Velvet Revolver, among others.

Also sitting in on keyboards on occasion with The McGrath Project is Phil Parlapiano, also the current keyboardist for Bon Jovi. He first toured in 1983 with folk icon Joan Baez to support her "Live in Concert" Europe release. Parlapiano followed his musical path as a founding member of The Brothers Figaro. Signed to Geffen Records after a bidding war, the seminal folk-rock duo began to record their full-length album, "Gypsy Beat."

After opening for John Haitt, Billy Bragg and Jill Souble, the Brothers called it quits but continued playing together, backing folk legend John Prine. In 1996, Parlapiano was drafted into the smooth-jazz world by saxophonist Dave Koz. Movie-goers saw Parlapiano in the blockbuster film "Titanic" as an accordion player during the memorable scene in the lower decks when Kate and Leo are dancing. Parlapiano has toured and recorded with seminal punkers Social Distortion and is featured on the soundtrack of the movie "Lords of DogTown."

"The McGrath Project" CD was the result of a three-day studio session. Day one was drums, day two was keys and guitars and day three was vocals and bass.

A New Take On Classic Rock

When you gather a bunch of multi-talented artists and musicians with tons of rock 'n' roll credits to work on an album of new material, the challenge is often one of focus.

In the case of "The McGrath Project" and the band's eponymous debut album, group founder/leader and Santa Clarita resident Gary McGrath rounded up some all-star bandmates and players, but kept them focused on the set of original songs they recorded in just three days of sessions.

A two-time Grammy-winning producer and veteran singer/guitarist/songwriter/music teacher, McGrath enlisted bassist Tim Bogert (a Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductee as a member of Vanilla Fudge who's also played with Cactus, Rick Derringer, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart and Bo Diddley), keyboardist/vocalist Teddy Zig Zag (Guns N' Roses) and drummer Bryan Head (Foreigner) as the core band.

McGrath's seasoned but reinvigorated crew came out of the studio with an album that's both tuneful and loud, and a fresh take on the classic rock sound.

Most of the dozen tracks would fit right in on any classic rock station that's not completely locked into the 1970s and still plays contemporary new music.

A few - "Where You Belong," "Bliss" and "The Chance" - are in fact scoring airplay on Internet radio, particularly on iRadioLA (Indie 104).

"The Chance" also includes a pair of hidden bonus tracks - an acoustic verison of "Tamela" and "XXX Malt Liquor" that's hilarious but unlikely to score much airplay.

If you like classic rock but are burned out on the same old stuff that gets played on the radio, "The McGrath Project" CD will be music to your ears.
