ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Dan McKinnon grew up within the sight and the smell of the salt water of his beloved Nova Scotia. Music was a rich part of his family life, and he learned the timeless canon of traditional songs at home, while mastering the acoustic guitar.

For the past 25 years, Dan has taken his music to concert halls, folk clubs, and festivals, from Halifax to London. He has headlined the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium with Symphony Nova Scotia, here in Halifax, he has opened for performers such as Eric Bogle and Garnet Rogers, and has performed and recorded with Maritime Canadian pub warriors McGinty, Evans & Doherty and other A-list Atlantic Canadian folk artists.

"Dan McKinnon's singing and playing have been refined to a high level over the years, and his comfortable stage presence invites the audience into his insightful songs... Dan is one of Nova Scotia's musical treasures and his appearances will be warmly appreciated by audiences, no matter what the venue." (Garry Woodcock, President, Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.)

Cut from the same cloth as Canadian folk heroes Stan Rogers and James Keelaghan, McKinnon is both a masterful writer of insightful history-based songs and a full-on performer with a booming baritone voice that can fill any room.

Over the course of five solo recordings McKinnon, armed with a degree in history, has blown the dust off Nova Scotia’s seafaring past and breathed life into the colourful history of this corner of the world. His fifth album, Fields of Dreams and Glory, marked a highpoint in his recording career. Produced by Paul Mills in Toronto, the album has opened important new doors for this artist and garnered reviews in prestigious trade publications in Canada and abroad.

JUST ANOTHER DAY began in the throes of the last days of recording "Fields of Dreams and Glory" with celebrated folk music producer Paul Mills. Paul expressed the interest to 'get hold' of some of Dan's earlier music to add his touch to them. Just Another Day is that recording - twelve older songs stripped-down and produced from the bottom up accompanied by two of Dan's more recent writings. The result, "Just Another Day"
